Blacklava
Clothing, and more, for a new state of mind. Owner Ryan Suda sponsored the very first two sessions of The Writers Workshop, prior to its current incarnation, in 1999. Blacklava continues to be a good friend and advisor in all things creative and business. Check out their wares.
Glenn Suravech
Glenn Suravech (aka Mosaic) fine-tuned his skill as an audio engineer at Jackson Browne's Groove Masters Studio in Santa Monica, and through UCLA Extensions' Recording Engineering certification program studied under the tutelage of such engineers as Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2) and Ted Greenberg (Cypruss Hill, The Roots, Ben Harper), among other music juggernauts. Additionally, he has worked with engineer Steve Durkee (Prince, Janet Jackson), Jim Mitchell (Guns N' Roses, Billy Bob Thornton, Warren Zevon), producer Derek Nakamoto (Keiko Matsui) and still regularly sits in as a guitarist with the celebrated Los Angeles-based pop band, Visiting Violette.
JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound
JC Brooks is determined to become the next in a long line of classic Chicago Soul singers; Sam Cooke, Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway, Syl Johnson - JC has learned from them all, and he's got no illusions about what it takes to become a classic. Armed with The Uptown Sound, one of the most ferocious bands to ever crawl up out of the windy city, JC's live shows are all-out assaults on the audience, employing everything from raw punk to heart-wrenching R&B. Guaranteed to make you dance by any means necessary, JC Brooks is the new sound of Chicago.
Keiko Agena
Talented television, screen, and stage artist Keiko Agena was a staple of pre-workshop workshop sessions at the Corner Booth, 1st and Central, LA, CA. She can be seen, among others, in her role as Lane Kim in Gilmore Girls. In addition to numerous other projects, she currently plays drums for the Los Angeles based band, Boo Boo Kitty.
Little Tokyo Service Center
For over 29 years, the Little Tokyo Service Center, a Community Development Corporation (LTSC CDC), has been an important resource for the residents of a diverse community. Founded in 1979, LTSC CDC is a nonprofit charitable organization serving Asian and Pacific Islanders throughout Los Angeles County who are in need, especially those facing language or cultural gaps, financial need, or physical disabilities.
Mike Daily
Novelist and Recording Artist in Portland, Oregon. Author of Valley, Alarm, Editor of Stovepiper: Book One, and contributor to countless others. His book Valley was the inspiration for The Undeniables.
Naomi Hirahara
Among her library of fiction and nonfiction titles, award winning author, publisher, and teacher Naomi Hirahara may be best known for her Mas Arai mystery series (Summer of the Big Bachi, Gasa-Gasa Girl, and Snakeskin Shamisen). In addition to her writing commitments, she is also a community-oriented host to Writing and Self-Publishing Workshops, openly sharing her diverse range of knowledge and experience.

For over 36 years, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), headquartered in multi-ethnic Historic Filipinotown, has served this impoverished neighborhood as well as the greater Los Angeles Filipino American community with mission-fueled passion and relatively little fanfare.

Tuesday Night Projects
Tuesday Night Projects has been an exceptionally supportive venue for The Writers Workshop and its Lighters. Supportive of all peoples and media, their open-mic / performance program is held the First and Third Tuesdays of each month, Spring to Fall, at an outdoor courtyard in downtown Los Angeles. TAIKOPROJECT
The TAIKOPROJECT is an ensemble of premiere taiko drummers dedicated to promoting and advancing the American art of taiko. Through public performances, education, and outreach activities, TAIKOPROJECT is committed to preserving taiko as a dynamic element of Japanese American culture and heritage. In addition to maintaining taiko as a community-based tradition, TAIKOPROJECT also incorporates unconventional and innovative concepts to expand artistic boundaries. Through these values, TAIKOPROJECT seeks not only to entertain audiences, but also to inform them about the history and integrity of taiko as an evolving art form.
